EOPS/CARE

"Building better futures for our students and our community."

Extended Opportunity Programs and Services

EOPS is recognized as a state funded categorical program that provides innovative methods to shape the direction of the population it serves. What makes this program so special is the level of commitment devoted to student well-being. For a three year period (6 semesters), students are embraced and guided on a pathway to success. Each of the mentors/counselors on this team is specialized and well trained to provide students with resources, guidance, leadership, and comfort to reaching their full potential.

Through offering a variety of programs and opportunities for personal and professional enrichment, PVC promotes inclusive culture, quality education, and comprehensive support services to create leaders dedicated to community advocacy.

MISSION:

The EOPS program’s mission is to encourage the enrollment, retention, and transfer of students handicapped by language, social, economic, and educational disadvantages and to facilitate the successful completion of their goals and objectives in college.

VALUE:

As a community, the college values Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism strengthened by the institution through enhanced cultural diversity, and varied lived experiences of our students, faculty, staff, and external community. PVC values student success, open access, campus climate and participatory governance, fostering mutual respect, values multiple perspectives, and appreciates diverse cultures.

PURPOSE:

The EOPS purpose is to provide special recruitment, retention, and transition services to eligible students. The services offered are "above and beyond" those offered by the college's Student Services division. The primary services include assistance in the following areas:
